  • Version 4.2: Fixes a bug in Premiere Pro CC (7.0) where changing the in point can reference incorrect frames in the source material. This is actually a bug introduced by Premiere Pro CC, and in order to workaround this bug, we have disabled the option to select Motion Source Video track. Projects that are saved in CS6 referencing another video track as Motion Source than the current one where the effect is applied will not work properly.

  • Fixes a bug in Premiere Pro CC (7.0) where changing the in point can reference incorrect frames in the source material. This is actually a bug introduced by Premiere Pro CC, and in order to workaround this bug, we have disabled the option to select Motion Source Video track. Projects that are saved in CS6 referencing another video track as Motion Source than the current one where the effect is applied will not work properly.

  • On the Macintosh users will see a significant improvement on G5 CPUs running Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger).

  • Because we've added new options in version 3.0:
  • You'll see that we've renamed the plugin, and that it will show up in the applications as "RSMB 3.x" and "RSMB Pro 3.x." That way, your old projects will still run and load (using pre-3.0 RSMB).
  • New features to both regular and Pro versions:
  • o Cheap Render-Only licenses for render farms.
    o Motion sensitivity now varies smoothly rather than jumping in discreet steps.
  • New features in RSMB Pro 3.0:
  • o Motion blur can be applied using motion vectors from an external source, e.g., motion vectors from your 3D system.
    o Automatic scene change intelligence so that motion blur is not applied across a scene cut.
    o On problematic footage, give RSMB Pro tracking hints through the use of tracking point settings that can often be tied to a host program's point tracker.
    o In addition you can give RSMB Pro hints by showing exactly where objects move from frame to frame using After Effects’ splines (known in After Effects as masks).
    o Per-pixel image tracking can be turned off and motion blur added based solely on the motion of tracking points and splines.
    o In combustion, splines used to hint RSMB's tracking can have their control vertices tied to combustion's tracker!

Version 2.1 | December 17, 2003

  • Multiprocessor support added. Users will see a significant speedup on multiprocessor machines.
  • G5 optimization added for Mac versions of the products. Updates for Mac versions only available for Mac OS X.

  • We've added two few features:
  • o Motion Sensitivity: Prior to version 2.0 you really had no choice to limit the amount of motion calculated for any motion estimation quality. The newly added Motion Sensitivity option now allows you to limit how much pixels can move once a particular motion vector quality is chosen. This can help eliminate the "gloop" in creating new frames that is seen when objects pass over each other in the imagery.
    o In ReelSmart Motion Blur Pro, we allow you to specify (via a matte), a foreground layer that is separate from the background layer. The two layers are tracked, interpolated and warped separately. ReelSmart Motion Blur uses proprietary filling and tracking techniques when working on the background layer, even when it is obscured by the foreground! Note: applying earlier versions of ReelSmart Motion Blur to 2 layers (the foreground and background) and then combining them does not produce the same results, because in the Pro 2.0 version we figure out the motion for the portion of the background layer that is covered by the foreground later, an important part in reconstructing the background when the foreground moves in front of it.

  • Because we've added new options in version 2.0:
  • o You'll see that we've renamed the plugin, and that it will show up in the applications as "ReelSmart Motion Blur 2.x." That way, your old projects will still run and load (using pre-2.0 Motion Blur).

  • ReelSmart Motion Blur After Effects-compatible plugin has been revamped so that Discreet combustion projects work correctly after saving and re-opening.
